Stannington Road Race

It was a long hard day out for our Universities Champion Tom Stewart after he decided on an early move in the Stannington RR which forms part of the Yorkshire Road Race league. He couldn’t have chosen a harder circuit  as it was the climbing that dominated the short laps 16 laps which made up the 86 mile distance. Tom had 19 year old Sam Boast of Hope Factory Racing for company and the two of them formed a great partnership to hold off the bunch containing many of the regions top riders. The two had it their own way for the most of the race until seasoned campaigner Martin Ford (In-Gear Quickvit Trainsharp RT) jumped out of the pack and bridged the gap on his own with three laps to go. At the finish it was Boast who showed he had the legs when he ripped it up the final finishing hill leaving Tom to salvage an excellent and well deserved runner up spot with Ford coming home in the final podium position. For all his efforts Tom also clinched the King Of The Mountains prize ahead of Boast.

It was a great day for the rest of the RST guys with Dan Storey coming home best of the rest in 4th with Gunnar next over the line in 5th
