Cycling discipline: Road, Time Trial, Track, MTB XC and Cyclo Cross.

Did you do any other sports before Cycling: Started running at school but did not enjoy the training preferred to go out riding my bike.

How did you get into cycling: Through a teacher at school who used to ride time trails and had a Bob Jackson bike, he got a few of us at school into racing.

Time in competitive cycling: Started in 1975 as a school boy and raced through to my last season in 1992.

First competitive bike: Holdsworth Pro.

Favorite circuit: Bashall Eaves big circuit, a great racing circuit with something for every type of rider.
What is the hardest race you’ve ridden so far: As an amateur, The Peace Race, there were riders some really good riders from eastern block countries which I’d never heard of going like 10 men.

As a Pro, Belgium Kermises or tricky town centre crits, not suited to my abilities, put me in a long road race any day.

Favorite training ride: When I was racing, Waddington Fell, Trough of Bowland, Jubilee Towers and back via Longridge.

Favorite most inspiring Sports personality: When I was starting out, Roger De Vlaeminck, a fantastic bike handler and 4 times winner of Paris Roubaix, Lucien Van Impe  climber and Tour winner. When I was racing, Sean Kelly all  rounder and hard man could excel in any kind of road race on his day, which was most days.

Any hobbies/interests outside of cycling: I enjoyed Skiing and Climbing after I stopped racing, now supporting my girls on the bike.

Do you have any hero’s, have you met them: I’m not big into hero’s I take people as I find them.

Favorite bands/artists: The 80’s was my music era, but l appreciate any music played well.

Likes: When a plan comes together.

Dislikes: Ice on the road when I want to ride my bike.
